Coach Alexander Arriaga III
Born in 1976 and raised in the city of Houston, TX.; his lifelong journey with baseball began right across the street at a local field, where he discovered a deep passion for the game. The year 1982 marked a significant milestone as he earned his first team jersey, donning the role of a team bat boy at 6 years old and forming a connection that has shaped Coach Alex's life.
From the early days of youth baseball at Magnolia and East End Little League to high school at Charles H. Milby, baseball was essential in molding his character. The game taught invaluable lessons in teamwork, discipline, respect, loyalty, friendship, and the importance of community.
In 2001, Coach Alex transitioned from player to mentor, stepping into the role of a youth baseball coach at Sagemont Little League. He would go on to found the South Belt Horns in 2005, a select baseball team that would compete in local tournaments.
November 2008 marked a pivotal moment as Coach Alex opened a practice and training facility across from Sagemont LL, where he began offering private baseball lessons. The South Belt Horns evolved, transitioning to year-round select baseball in the fall of 2009. Coach Alex proudly managed and coached multiple South Belt Horns teams for the next 10 years from 2009 to 2019.
Coach Alex's commitment to baseball remains steadfast. He continues to provide private lessons at the same location, sharing the wealth of knowledge and experience accumulated over the years.
Through each inning played, each lesson taught, and every team coached, Coach Alex's journey with baseball reflects a deep-rooted love for the sport and a commitment to passing on its transformative lessons to the next generation. As the story of his baseball life unfolds, the passion for the game burns brighter than ever, driving me forward into exciting new chapters on the diamond with Black Gold Baseball.
