Sometimes, the heroes of the game are the ones who’ve traveled the most eclectic paths. Enter Heiysan Forero, the latest addition to Black Gold Baseball's coaching roster and a bona fide local legend. A graduate of Friendswood High School where he made his mark in varsity baseball, Forero's roots run deep in the Texas baseball community. But don't let the local accolades fool you; this is a coach with a resume that packs a punch on a national level.
After high school, Forero took his talents to Texas A&M Corpus, where he impressed in his freshman year. But the best was yet to come. Transferring to the University of Houston for his sophomore and junior years, Forero continued to turn heads and capture scouts' attention. By senior year, his talents were too glaring to ignore; he became an undrafted free agent pick-up for the San Diego Padres, making the leap to professional baseball.
What followed were two whirlwind seasons in the Padres system, specifically in the advanced A-ball California league with the Lake Elsinore Storm. His time on the field may have been shorter than some, but what he absorbed and learned are lessons that can't be quantified.
Now, as he returns home to join Black Gold Baseball, Forero brings not just his physical talents but a nuanced understanding of the game that only comes from having played at its highest levels. Here is a coach who knows what it's like to rise through the ranks, who's lived the dream that many young Black Gold players aspire to achieve.
So, what can the players expect? A coaching approach steeped in real-world experience, layered with a profound understanding of what it takes to compete and succeed at the collegiate and professional levels. With Coach Forero on board, Black Gold Baseball is not just another team on the Texas youth baseball circuit; it's a stepping stone to bigger dreams and brighter futures.
